Chemical engineers are always linked with all other engineering disciplines utilized for the mass production of petro-chemicals, pharmaceuticals, bulk drugs, polymer, paints, oil refineries, food, etc. Unless a chemical engineer does the basic process design, no engineer of other discipline would be able to work upon further. In fact, no large scale with economical production is feasible until a Chemical Engineer is involved. We are the core engineering branch and have wide area of job opportunities in India and abroad. As a chemical engineer, we can enter in the manufacturing units/ production plants of varied pharmaceutical, specialty chemicals, petrochemicals, steel, food processing and energy sectors. We can work for typical Engineering Procurement and Commission (EPC) companies for detailed engineering. We are also eligible for opportunities in Environment sectors starting from devising means for Wastewater treatment facilities to solar plants. We also have ample opportunities and scope for Research and Development (R&D).
At Institute of Advanced Research we are having well equipped labs for study and research. Department of Engineering and Physical Science are committed to work with excellence to provide quality education and exposure to the students of Chemical Engineering. We, at IAR help students to put their idea in actual structure by the implementation of latest available technology. Our training and placement cell is dedicated to serve the students for their effective summer training and Internships in reputed chemical & petro chemical companies.
The B. Tech Chemical Engineering (4 years program) was started in 2017 soon after the establishment of the University. The program was designed by highly qualified and experienced UK based Prof. Rao Bhamidimari, who has vast industrial and research expertise across the globe. The program is further lead by responsible faculty members, whose goal is to motivate and inspire the students for their all-round growth. First year is mostly common and covers basic science and engineering courses, which are also common to other engineering programs. Further the program is developed to make a choice from range of core chemical engineering courses with branch elective and open electives. The freedom of open elective gives opportunities to choose courses offered from various other departments in the university.
Apart from the basic laboratories the program is supported with excellent laboratories, Chemical engineering lab-I (Heat and Momentum transfer), Chemical Engineering Lab-II (Mass Transfer and Reaction Engineering), Instrumentation and Control lab, Materials lab and Advanced workshop facility. Further, the program is designed with objectives focusing on innovation and advancements in the field of chemical engineering and its applications. The department is also offering M. Tech a PhD program in Chemical Engineering under the supervision of experienced faculty members.
Class 12 with subjects such as Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry is the minimum qualification required for B. Tech admission in Gujarat. The applicants must have a minimum of 45% of marks in Class 12 to secure admission
Students will get admission in IAR through the GUJ-CET examination and further online procedure conducted by the ACPC.
Students will also get admission in IAR through management quota; the admission is based on merit.
