About The School of Humanities and Sciences

The School of Humanities and Sciences (SHS) at the Institute of Advanced Research (IAR), Gandhinagar offers a dynamic, intellectually stimulating environment that nurtures innovation, exploration, and creativity across multiple disciplines. SHS is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and holistic development, providing students with opportunities to engage in foundational learning as well as cutting-edge research. The School offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programs in Psychology, Public Administration, Economics, Physics, and Chemistry, promoting a multidisciplinary approach to knowledge and problem-solving.

With experienced and research-driven faculty, ICT-enabled classrooms, state-of-the-art Physics and Chemistry laboratories, and a Language & Communication Lab, SHS ensures a modern and experiential learning environment. Students actively participate in hands-on projects, internships, and collaborative research, gaining critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills.

The School emphasizes research in areas such as cognitive and behavioral studies, organizational psychology, public policy and governance, economic modelling plasma & its applications, sensor development, novel synthesis methodology, medicinal chemistry, advanced materials, nanotechnology, and applied mathematics. These research initiatives are often interdisciplinary, encouraging innovation and collaboration with national and international partners.
