Brig PC Vyas, a 1987 Commissioned Officer, is an alumni of Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai, Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) Wellington, College of Defence Management and Military College of Electronics & Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), Secunderabad. After an illustrations career of 36 years in the Indian Army, he has joined Institute of Advanced Research, The University for Innovation on 1st September, 2023 as its Pro Vice Chancellor and Director.

Brig Vyas is an accomplished leader and effective administrator, with expertise in the subjects of strategy, combat studies, military technology and management. He holds academic degree of B. Tech (Electronics) from JNU, M.Sc. (Defence & Strategic studies) from Madras University and Master of Management Studies from Osmania University. He has also done PG Diploma in Human Rights and Electrical Energy Management & Energy Audit.

In his chequered military career, Brig Vyas has served in high altitude regions of Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, deserts and counter insurgency areas. He has varied experience of military exercises and operations. As Commanding Officer of an EME Battalion in desert sector, he planned and organized engineering/technical/MRO support for Exercise – BRAZEN CHARIOTS, meant to display Indian Combat Capability for diplomats of various countries from across the world. For his distinguished service, he was awarded Army Commander’s Commendation. Brig Vyas has also served as Director EME (Operations & Plans) at Army Headquarters, Military Liaison Officer in United Nations Mission in Sudan and Dean in MCEME, Secunderabad. He has also been Brigadier Administration at OTA Gaya and Dy. General Officer Commanding of Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area. On deputation, he was Registrar (July 2019 – December 2020) at Indian Institute of Science Education & Research, Berhampur, where he was administrative head, mandated to establish newly raised institute of National Importance and Centre of Scientific Excellence.

Brig PC Vyas has many firsts to his credit. He was part of the pioneering team at PANG in Ladakh when Leh-Manali route was opened as an alternate route to Zozila Pass for winter stocking of Ladakh Region in 1988. He was also instrumental in initial technical planning and work process for Medium Overhaul of Infantry Combat Vehicles BMP-1 in Indian Army in the year 1996. Then, as part of UN Peacekeeping Mission, he was responsible to commence monitoring and verification activities for implementation of Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) in Sudan. He was honoured by the Government at Malakal, South Sudan for his conflict resolution services.

He enjoys writing on Contemporary & technological issues and his articles have been published in ‘Editorials’ of National Newspaper, as well as Technical Journal of Army. He is also a keen sportsman and is into long distance running. In free style swimming, he participated till Army Command level in the year 1991-92. It is to his credit that he has drafted existing VISION STATEMENT of the Corps of EME of Indian Army.

Brig Vyas has been Guest Speaker at DSSC Wellington, College of Defence Management, Military Institute of Technology, Girinagar, College of Material Management, Jabalpur, Police Training Academy, Bhopal, Institution of Engineers (India) Event, other Seminars/ Conferences on Management, Defence Procurement/Sustenance, Leadership and Motivation.
