National Cadet Corps

What is NCC?

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces with its headquarters in New Delhi, India. It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis as a Tri-Services Organization, comprising the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. Cadets are given basic military training in small arms and drill.

Objectives

  1. To develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country.
  2. To create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth.
  3. To provide leadership in all walks of life and be always available for the service of the nation.
  4. To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the armed, air and navy forces.  

NCC at the INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED RESEARCH (IAR)

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) at IAR University is a prestigious opportunity for students to engage in a wide range of military and leadership training, fostering patriotism, discipline, and a sense of national responsibility. Under the Ministry of Defense, the NCC offers basic military training to students aged 13 to 26 in schools and colleges, preparing them for the challenges of life and the defense of our nation.

Our university is proud to be allotted 160 vacancies for NCC cadets, a valuable opportunity for students to participate in this esteemed program. IAR University is part of the “2nd Gujarat Independent Company NCC Battalion,” which provides the framework for a wide array of activities and training, ensuring that our cadets receive top-notch instruction and experiences.

NCC Care Taker Officer (CTO)

Under the able guidance of Dr. Tvarit Patel, our dedicated NCC caretaker officer, students at IAR University are trained in various aspects of military discipline, including handling different types of weapons, physical fitness, leadership skills, and teamwork. The training is designed to instill qualities such as comradeship, courage, honesty, and above all, patriotism.

TIME of SELECTION:  August/September month of every year.  

ENROLLMENT of students as NCC CADETS at IAR:

Eligibility Conditions:

  1. Enrolled in IAR must be student of Institute of advanced research (IAR) University
  2. Meets the prescribed medical standards.
  3. Age Senior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) – 15 to 23 years.
  4. Physical examination: It may include run, chin-up, sit-up etc.
  5. Written test and Interview.
  6. Application for Enrolment.
  7. A student desirous of being enrolled in the Senior Division shall apply to the ANO/ Officer Commanding of the nearest NCC Unit.
  8. Medical Examination.

DOCUMENTATION:

  1. 10th and 12th class mark sheet.
  2. Aadhar Card photocopy
  3. Cadet/Guardian’s Bank account passbook details photocopy.
  4. College admission fee receipt
  5. 04 Passport size photo
  6. A certificate (Optional)

TRAINING PERIOD

Total training period for SD and SW is 3 years. Every cadet has to undergo service training for a period of at least 3 hours per week during the training year. However, no training is carried out during periods when the college through which a cadet is enrolled is closed for a vacation. Every cadet has undergone service training for a minimum period of 75% of total hours during the annual college. Every cadet, who has completed one full year of training and is in his (second year), attends an annual training camp of 9–10 days to fulfil the eligibility for certificate exam.
