ABOUT IAR UNIVERSITY

The Puri Foundation for Education in India is a charitable trust registered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The trust is supported by the generous support from Chairman, Prof. Nathu Ram Puri, a noted NRI industrialist settled in Nottingham, UK. The Objectives of the trust include creating facilities for promotion of education and research. The trust supports and establishes schools, universities and research establishments in India and overseas. The trust also supports students from weaker sections of society to provide them with equal opportunities to realize their potential.

As part of its objectives, the trust set up the Indian Institute of Advanced Research at Koba, Gandhinagar. Honorable Shri Narendra Bhai Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, laid the foundation stone of the Institute in 2003. The first Centre of Excellence, School of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology was set up in 2006. It was formally inaugurated by The President of India, H.E. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in April 2006. The Institute was accorded university status in August 2011 by the Government of Gujarat under the Gujarat Private Universities Amendment Act, 2011. The University continues to grow with the addition of education and research programs in physical sciences, engineering, and business. The Foundation aspires that the University will become a model institution conducting education and research with real impact on our society, economy and the environment.

The Department encompasses the full breadth and depth of the disciplines across all biological sciences. Students and faculty explore living systems at every scale from proteins and enzymes to plant and developmental biology. Understanding the mechanisms of the living systems is the first step toward finding solutions to our health challenges. Our faculty are leaders in a range of these disciplines and continue to expand research in emerging areas of the biological sciences from immunology to metabolic engineering.

The Department brings together researchers who are advancing knowledge at every scale from molecules to systems. Our faculty’s internationally leading research ranges from cancer biology and engineering important molecules, to vaccines and nutraceuticals.

ABOUT THE CME IN IMMUNOLOGY AND CONFERENCE IN CANCER BIOLOGY

Day 1: ‘Revisiting Immunology and its intriguing applications in healthcare’

February 27, 2025

Immunology has recently be established to be an important knowledge domain in medical, animal and health care sector. India has contributed significantly to some key vaccine development and has been marked well on the global map. The CME in Immunology ‘Revisiting Immunology and its intriguing applications in healthcare’ aim to provide a contemporary and comprehensive revisit to the basic concepts of immunity to various infections/insults. The speakers for the event are stalwarts and renowned scientists and academicians to explain the applications of immunology in a very lucid and interesting role way. The CME is targeted or medical/non-medical students and research scholars in various domains of healthcare.  In addition to the scientific sessions, participants of CME are encouraged for a poster presentations on their idea of applying the immunological concepts in developing diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.  Few selected participants will also attract awards on their posters.
