Program Overview

At IAR, the chemistry (honors) program provides education focusing on a variety of inter-disciplinary areas, spanning different scientific disciplines such as basic areas of organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, material, bio-chemistry and nano-chemistry.

Our research-based programs linking together departments, schools, interdisciplinary centers and internship opportunities in the chemical industry, state and national labs. We focus and encourage more on project and problem-based learning with offering a dissertation in undergraduate program. This strategy helps our students to learn essential skills such as critical thinking,communication,professional integrity and team workOur wide elective courses in the curriculum allow students unprecedented freedom to explore subjects outside their chosen major. Our flexible and broad curriculum prepares students not just for a career in chemistry upon graduation, but for a leadership role in the world as well.

Chemistry graduates will demonstrate the ability to:

  1. Understand the fundamentals in the basic areas of organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, material, biological chemistry, Green chemistry and nano-chemistry.

  2. Identify and solve chemical problems competently by identifying the essential parts of a problem.

  3. Understand the objective of a chemical experiment with design and properly conduct experiments.

  4. Use modern instrumentation and techniques to perform chemical experiments.

  5. Maintain a culture of safety in the laboratory.

  6. Use computers in chemical simulation and computation, data analysis.

  7. Opportunity to work in exciting range of research areas, which include plasma and its applications, gravitational waves, nanomaterials, sensors for diagnostics, green chemistry, medicinal chemistry and energy physics amongst of several other cutting-edge topics.
