The Institute of Advanced Research (IAR) is an innovative modern university, which offers professionally focused undergraduate, postgraduate and research degree programs. The University established under the Gujarat Private Universities Amendment Act, 2011 and recognized under section 22 and 2(f) of UGC. IAR was established in 2006 with the support of then President of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, who inaugurated the Institute, and the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, who was then the Chief Minister of Gujarat. The University is financially supported by the Puri Foundation for Education in India, established by Professor Nathu Ram Puri, who is a leading industrialist in the UK with manufacturing and other businesses world-wide.
- The University is a not-for-profit institution and its sole purpose is to promote world-leading education, research and innovation for young people nationally and internationally.
- The basic objective of the IAR admission policy is to identify meritorious candidates for admission to various programs without any prejudice to their caste, creed, religion, language, ethnicity, gender and disability.
- The admissions will be on merit basis. 60% in the latest qualifying examination is set as Merit for the admission to UG and PG Programs.
- University extends its assistance to avail Govt. Scholarship schemes and offers own Scholarship schemes to the meritorious students. University also offers financial support to the applicants from the weaker section of the society as per predefined policy.
** M.Tech program was proposed in the year 2020-21 and subject to the final fees approval from FRC.

Hostel Fee: Hostel fee is Rs. 45600/- per semester including lodging and boarding inclusive of Utility bills + Rs.6500/- Hostel fee deposit (refundable after at least one year of stay)
Due to current Covid-19 pandemic situation, University does not offer A.C. rooms. Sharing will be as per State Government guidelines. At present, it is two students per room.
Students from SEBC, SC, ST category can avail the scholarship facility provided by the State Government under Digital Gujarat Portal. Institute of Advanced Research helps the students to apply in respective category under Digital Gujarat Scholarship schemes.
Students from Minority Category can avail the facility of scholarship provided by the minority commission of Govt. of India. Institute of Advanced Research will publish the Circular received from the Central / State Government and helps the students to apply in National Portal Scholarship scheme from time to time.
Students, who fulfils the eligibility criteria of MYSY scholarship, apply under Mukhya Mantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana (MYSY) and receive the scholarship through direct benefit of transfer. IAR provides necessary certificates to apply in MYSY Scheme.
Students need to pay application fee (non-refundable, applicable as per the category) at the time of submission of application form.
One time University Registration fee (non-refundable, applicable as per the category) at the time of confirmation of admission.
*Fees are reviewed on annual basis considering input costs and other related expenses. The fee may increase by about 10 % per year for the non-professional courses.
**B.Tech, M.Tech and MBA fee are determined by FRC (Fee Regulatory Committee, Govt of Gujarat). Application and Registration fee are not applicable to these programs.
- ** M.Sc. Biotechnology (DBT Sponsored) (through GAT B merit) fee is determined by DBT, Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Govt. of India. Registration fee is not applicable to these programs.
- Hostel and Mess charges are separate and need to be paid as per the type of hostel facility applied/to be availed. Minimum one year stay is compulsory for the refund of Hostel Deposit fee.
3. Eligibility Rules for admission to program:
3 A. Undergraduate Programs (UG) Non Professional (B.Sc. Hons./BBA)
The student seeking admissions to: Under Graduate Program must have passed any of following
10+2 level examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Education, including Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
Intermediate Science or Two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.
Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.
High School Certificate Examination of Cambridge University.
International Baccalaureate (IB)
Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with minimum five subjects.
For B.Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry / Physics program the candidate should have passed 12th standard examination or equivalent from science stream or with minimum any 2 of the following subjects – Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry.
For B.Sc. Biological Sciences and biotechnology program the candidate should have passed 12th standard examination or equivalent from science stream with minimum any 2 of the following subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Biology, mathematics is optional.
Candidates seeking admission in B.B.A. (this is a non-professional course) are required to have passed 12th standard examination or equivalent from science or commerce discipline.
Candidate must have passed any of the qualifying examinations with English as one of the subjects.
3 B. Postgraduate Programs (PG) Non Professional (M.Sc.) and M.Sc. Biotechnology (DBT supported).
The student seeking admissions to: Post Graduate Non Professional Program
Candidate must have Bachelor’s Degree in respective discipline under 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 pattern of education from any recognized University from relevant disciplines.
For, M.Sc. Biotechnology (DBT supported) program student must have minimum eligibility criteria (i.e. minimum marks of GATB entrance examination) as defined by DBT, Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Govt. of India
- Final year students awaiting final year results are encouraged to apply. Final admission will be subject to successful passing of the Bachelor’s degree.
3 C 1. Undergraduate Graduate Professional Programs (UG) BTech.
The student seeking admissions in: Undergraduate Program (BTech )
Admission Eligibility for Degree Engineering Courses: The aspiring candidates should have passed Std. 12 (Science Stream) with minimum 45% (40% for SC/ST and SEBC) in three subjects viz. two compulsory subjects i.e. Physics and Mathematics and any one of optional subjects i.e. (Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational Subjects prescribed by respective boards) from single board and should have appeared in GUJCET or similar qualifying exams as per the guidelines mention on website for Admissions Committee for Professional Courses, Govt. of Gujarat to be eligible for the admission.
As per the recent notification from AICTE, Students having PCB can now apply for BTech Biotechnology program or any other BTech program.
For admission in the first year of BTech after Std. 12 (Science Stream) on State quota seats of Self Finance Engineering Institutes and seats of management quota of Self Finance Engineering Institutes will be carried out as per admissions rules set by ACPC, Government of Gujarat. 5) Hostel and Mess Fees
University provides limited hostel facility on first cum first serve basis. We have separate hostel facility for boys and girls. The students need to apply for hostel facility while confirming his/her admission. The applicable hostel fee including mess charges for the entire year is payable at the time of admission. The university hostels are allotted as per the rules and regulations of university and university reserves the right of hostel admission.
In case there is no vacancy in campus hostel accommodation, university will recommend/assist in finding outside hostel accommodation. The charges for the same will have to be paid in advance at university office. The charges for outside hostel facility may vary as per the choice of facility opted for. Students may opt outside facility at their own responsibility.
University provides canteen and cafeteria facility within campus at separate cost to all students. The mess facility is not mandatory for students allotted with hostel facility with outside service provider.
